Nicola Buccelli
Principal, Nicola Buccelli, started dancing at the age of 5 with local Lancaster dance teacher Gail Maire Johnstone. As a child she trained with the Royal Ballet Junior Associates before commencing full-time training at 16 at The Hammond School, Chester. Here she completed 3 years of musical theatre training and gained her ISTD teaching associates in modern and tap under the late Chrissie Eccleston. Nicola was proud to be asked to return to teach at The Hammond school for 6 months by Chrissie as maternity leave cover. Upon graduating Nicola toured the world as a professional dancer for 6 years before injury put a stop to her professional performing career. Luckily, this made way for her passion for teaching. While living in London Nicola taught at the Prestigious Pineapple Dance studios, award winning Anthony Clifford studio, Romford and Danceforce, Kingston. Here she worked alongside ISTD examiners Jackie Barnes and Wendy O’Dowd. In 2013 Nicola returned to Lancaster and spent 9 ½ years teaching at Turning Point Theatre Arts. Nicola has successfully entered many children for ISTD dance exams and dance festival competitions nurturing and encouraging their talent. Nicola is married to Italian restaurant owner; Bruno and they have 3 children. Mia, Isabella and Luca. Nicola also runs diddi dance Lancaster, Preston and Kendal. A preschool dance class that introduces children into dancing in a fun and relaxed way. Many diddi dancers now dance with Nicola at The Hub. Nicola believes that developing confidence to perform on a stage, however big or small, enhances the children’s life skills and the gives them the tools to deal with the obstacles they may come across on life. The Hub isn’t just a dance school but a safe space for students to and express and enjoy themselves surrounded by friends in a kind and professional environment.
